Kuomintang. I would not be surprised if a large number of the members of the Kuomintang voted for the restoration of the old five-bar flag, were they permitted to give an honest expression of their predilection. The Nationalist Government calls

the present year the "18th year of the Republic".

The five-bar flag came into existence along with the Republic, while the "Sun" flag was universally introduced only last year. If the flag was emblematical of the Republic, why does not the present Government call this year the "second year of the Republic?" the "Sun" flag was introduced on the advice of Borodin for the chief object of

demonstrating that a new era of things in the Republic had come in.
